My Dearest Friend,

I have wanted to express my gratitude for your help the other day.  If I did not feel it inappropriate, I would have showered you in kisses right then and there, for the service you rendered my family and me.  My only sorrow was, we were not permitted to extend our visit with you due to a previous commitment.

I will forever hold you in high esteem for what you have done, and wish we could become deeper acquainted.   I would welcome the chance to repay your kindness.
